Chapter 2 Release + Project Update

Chapter 2 of South Scrimshaw is now available! Before we start exploring the ocean, we have a short anatomy lesson to explain what sort of animal our protagonist actually is.

To anyone reading this blog, FYI you’re still among the first people to check Scrimshaw out, judging by my very modest download numbers. So thank you! It means a great deal to me.

My hopes to release this update back in September were waylaid by a fairly intense freelance job, but it was for the best all things considered. I was already mulling over some possible revisions and a small amount of time away from a project always lends some perspective. It's currently just a dream that South Scrimshaw funds my life, so these sorts of breaks are necessarily going to happen.

About a month ago I posted images of a painting in progress. To followup, this is how the finished piece turned out:

In all I’m happy with Scrimshaw for now. I have a few lessons to take forward regarding the illustration style and story structure that would be a chore to type out and a bore to read, but I have plans. Motivation is still high, on to the next part.

Anyways thanks again for reading. Leave a note if you see any typos or experience any glitches so I can tear my hair out in frustration. I’d also like to mail out postcards or something soon so stay tuned if you want a card with a sea creature drawing.
